Caption: As we approach the end of the decade, we're witnessing The Collapse of Retro Trend. Fashion scholars are perplexed by the simultaneous existence of multiple retro timelines. What retro year is this? 1977? 1987? 1992? They're all peaking at once! From the '70s. We're gonna break out the hats and hooters when Josie comes home. Ironic appreciation of yacht rock. Iron Doomwitch. Sabbath stoner metal. From the '80s. High-waisted mom jeans. High fades. Beach-themed synthpop. From the '90s. Nerdishly large, round glasses. Plaid flannel and ripped jeans. Ironically, re-creating the 2010s in 2030 will be almost impossible!

Caption: Ronald Racism. Ronnie, yeah. It's Dick Nixon. Listen, understand your feelings about African diplomats … To see those, those monkeys from those African countries -- Damn them, they're still uncomfortable wearing shoes. - Actual quote from 1971 phone call with President Nixon. Historical hypothetical conversation within the commentary boundaries of an editorial cartoon: I don't know why any sentient America would be surprised by this sort of language by you or me ... We've been code talking this since 1964 ... Right ... Goldwater was against the 1964 Civil Rights bill ... JFK threw in with King in '63 and that was the ballgame. Then you came up with the Southern Strategy, which was the dogwhistle racial bigotry that won you the election in '68 and '72. It was so obvious. Our political survival has relied on it ever since. Good god, Ron! You can't just say that out loud! You have to have a little discretion. You have to be subtle! Not anymore. Send them back!

Caption: End of the Roe. Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973. And then … They're trying to make abortion illegal again. It'll never happen. There'd be riots in the streets! This candidate is anti-choice. Let's not get hung up on women's issues. Clinics are being shut down! People can still travel to another state. If Trump is elected, Roe is doomed! There you go with your gender-feminist identity politics! Alabama is about to pass a near-total abortion ban! Maybe we should give up on the abortion thing so we can win swing voters. Roe just got overturned. Whoa, how'd we let that happen?
